Ducharse

Random question that popped into my head today. There's probably a very obvious answer to it, and it will probably come to me sooner or later. But for the here and now, this one's a puzzler. To me...

Why do sinks have two knobs, one for hot water and one for cold, and most showers only have one knob that controls both?

Newer kitchen sinks seem to use the single handle thing, and my old shower had two knobs. So my guess is it's just an age thing.

The real question is why some sinks have two faucets, one for each knob. The idiot who designed that should be doused repeatedly with first boiling and then freezing water for a very long time. See how he likes it.

I always see the one knob ones and try and turn them, but they turn out to be levers or whatever, and I almost break them.
